Rolling Stock Engineer (Saudi National)

We are seeking a Rolling Stock Engineer (Saudi National) to support the safe, reliable and efficient operation, maintenance and improvement of rail vehicles. The successful candidate will contribute to engineering activities across the rolling stock lifecycle, from performance monitoring and fault investigation to maintenance planning, asset improvement and technical assurance. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively with operations, maintenance, suppliers and other engineering disciplines.

Key responsibilities include reviewing rolling stock performance data, identifying recurring defects and recommending corrective actions; supporting preventive and corrective maintenance strategies; investigating technical failures and preparing detailed root-cause analysis reports; and ensuring that maintenance activities comply with approved procedures, safety standards and applicable railway regulations. You will assist with inspections, testing, commissioning and modification projects, review technical documentation and engineering drawings, and monitor the performance of contractors and suppliers. The role will also involve contributing to reliability, availability, maintainability and safety (RAMS) initiatives, maintaining accurate engineering records, and supporting continuous improvement programmes.

Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, railway engineering or a related discipline, with relevant experience in rolling stock, rail systems, heavy engineering or transport asset maintenance. Knowledge of rail vehicle systems, including traction, braking, doors, HVAC, passenger information and auxiliary systems, is highly desirable. Experience using maintenance management systems, engineering analysis tools and technical reporting methods will be advantageous. You should be able to interpret technical specifications, work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and communicate clearly in English. A strong commitment to health, safety, quality and professional integrity is essential.
