Real Time Power and Transmission Scheduler
We are seeking a Real Time Power and Transmission Scheduler to coordinate the safe, reliable and cost-effective movement of electricity across the power system. This role is responsible for monitoring real-time system conditions, balancing supply and demand, and coordinating transmission activities in accordance with operating procedures, market rules and regulatory requirements. You will work closely with control room personnel, generation and transmission teams, market participants, network operators and external stakeholders to support secure system operations.
Key responsibilities include developing and implementing real-time operating schedules; monitoring generation, demand, transmission flows, outages and network constraints; identifying emerging risks and taking appropriate corrective action; and coordinating planned and unplanned outages. You will assess system conditions, manage transmission limitations, issue operational instructions and maintain accurate records of decisions and events. The role also involves supporting market and settlement processes, responding to system emergencies, contributing to incident investigations, and providing clear operational updates to relevant stakeholders. A strong focus on compliance, safety, reliability and timely decision-making is essential.
The successful candidate will have experience in power system operations, electricity scheduling, energy trading, transmission control or a closely related environment. A sound understanding of electricity markets, transmission networks, generation technologies, system balancing and operational risk is highly desirable. You should be comfortable interpreting complex data, using energy management or scheduling systems, and making well-reasoned decisions under pressure. Strong communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills are required, together with excellent attention to detail and the ability to work effectively as part of a 24/7 operational team. Relevant qualifications in electrical engineering, power systems, energy management or a related discipline will be advantageous. Availability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends and public holidays, may be required.
