We are seeking a Principal Consultant, Biologist/Regulatory Specialist, Power and Renewables to provide senior technical and regulatory expertise across a diverse portfolio of energy and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will lead biological and environmental assessments for power generation, transmission, renewable energy, and related development initiatives, supporting projects from early planning and permitting through construction and operation. This role offers the opportunity to work with multidisciplinary teams, clients, regulators, Indigenous communities, landowners, and other stakeholders to help deliver practical, defensible, and environmentally responsible solutions.

Responsibilities will include managing or contributing to ecological studies, impact assessments, permitting strategies, regulatory submissions, environmental compliance programs, and biological monitoring plans. You will interpret applicable federal, provincial, state, and local legislation; identify project risks and approval requirements; prepare technical reports and presentations; and provide expert advice on matters such as species at risk, wildlife and vegetation, wetlands, watercourses, habitat management, and construction-related effects. The role will also involve developing scopes, budgets, and schedules; directing field programs and subcontractors; reviewing technical deliverables; mentoring junior professionals; supporting business development; and maintaining strong relationships with clients and regulatory authorities.

The ideal candidate will hold a degree in biology, ecology, environmental science, or a related discipline, together with substantial consulting or industry experience in environmental assessment, biological investigations, and regulatory approvals for power, renewable energy, or infrastructure projects. Professional registration or eligibility for registration, where applicable, is preferred. Experience interpreting environmental legislation, leading permitting processes, managing multidisciplinary projects, and communicating technical information to varied audiences is essential. Strong writing, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills are required, along with the ability to manage competing priorities and work independently or collaboratively. Experience with GIS, environmental field methods, Indigenous engagement, and regulatory consultation will be considered an asset. Occasional travel and fieldwork may be required.
