We are seeking a Traffic Planner to support the delivery of a major infrastructure construction project in the Bergen area. The role will be responsible for developing, coordinating and maintaining traffic management plans that enable construction activities to proceed safely while minimising disruption to road users, pedestrians, local communities and public transport. You will work closely with construction teams, engineers, subcontractors, authorities and other stakeholders to ensure that temporary traffic arrangements are practical, compliant and clearly communicated.

Key responsibilities include preparing traffic plans, work-zone layouts, diversion routes, signage schemes and traffic control measures; coordinating road closures, lane changes, temporary access arrangements and traffic switches; and reviewing proposed construction activities to identify potential effects on traffic flow and public safety. You will monitor site conditions, inspect implemented measures and arrange updates where plans are not operating effectively. The position will also involve supporting permit and approval processes, maintaining traffic-related documentation, assisting with risk assessments and method statements, and contributing to incident response and lessons-learned activities. Clear communication with project personnel, road authorities, emergency services, local businesses and affected residents will be an important part of the role.

The successful candidate will have relevant experience in traffic planning, traffic management, transport planning or a comparable construction-related discipline. Experience from road, bridge, tunnel or other complex civil engineering projects is desirable, as is knowledge of temporary traffic management standards, road safety principles and relevant Norwegian regulations. You should be confident interpreting technical drawings and traffic data, coordinating several activities at once and making sound decisions in a changing site environment. Strong organisational and communication skills, attention to detail and a proactive approach to safety are essential. Familiarity with traffic planning software, CAD or related digital tools will be an advantage. The ability to work collaboratively in English is required; knowledge of Norwegian and a relevant professional qualification will be considered beneficial.
