We are seeking an experienced Cost Controller to support the effective financial management and commercial performance of projects and operational activities. The successful candidate will monitor costs, maintain accurate financial records, and provide timely analysis to help management make informed decisions. This role will work closely with project managers, finance teams, procurement colleagues, and operational stakeholders to ensure expenditure remains aligned with approved budgets and forecasts.

Key responsibilities include preparing and maintaining project budgets, cost plans, forecasts, and financial reports; tracking actual costs against commitments and approved expenditure; investigating variances and identifying potential cost risks; and producing clear commentary and recommendations for relevant stakeholders. You will review purchase orders, invoices, subcontractor costs, and change requests to ensure they are accurately recorded, appropriately authorised, and allocated to the correct cost centres. The role will also support month-end reporting, accruals, reconciliations, cash-flow updates, and the maintenance of reliable cost databases and reporting systems. Where required, you will contribute to tender reviews, contract administration, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives designed to strengthen financial controls.

Applicants should have proven experience in cost control, project finance, management accounting, or a related commercial environment. Strong analytical skills and a high level of attention to detail are essential, together with the ability to interpret financial information and explain it clearly to non-financial colleagues. Experience using spreadsheets and financial or enterprise resource planning systems is required; familiarity with project controls, procurement processes, forecasting techniques, and contract cost management would be advantageous. You should be organised, proactive, and confident in managing competing priorities while meeting deadlines. A relevant qualification in finance, accounting, business, or a related discipline is desirable, although equivalent practical experience will also be considered. The role offers an opportunity to contribute directly to financial transparency, operational efficiency, and successful project delivery.
