Staff Water Resources Engineer

We are seeking a Staff Water Resources Engineer to support the planning, design, and delivery of water resources projects across a range of public and private sector clients. This role will contribute to projects involving stormwater management, flood risk assessment, drainage infrastructure, hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, watershed planning, and water quality. You will work as part of multidisciplinary project teams, applying sound engineering judgement to develop practical, resilient, and cost-effective solutions.

Key responsibilities include preparing technical reports, design calculations, drawings, specifications, and permit documentation; developing and reviewing hydrologic and hydraulic models; analysing rainfall, runoff, river, and drainage data; and supporting the design of stormwater conveyance, detention, treatment, and flood mitigation systems. You will assist with field investigations, site assessments, condition evaluations, construction support, and project coordination. The position will also involve communicating with clients, contractors, regulators, and internal stakeholders, participating in design reviews, monitoring budgets and schedules, and providing technical guidance to junior staff. Occasional travel to project sites may be required.

Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering, water resources engineering, or a related discipline, together with relevant professional experience in water resources design and analysis. Professional registration, or progress toward registration, is preferred. Experience with industry-standard hydrologic and hydraulic modelling software, CAD platforms, GIS applications, and spreadsheet-based engineering tools is desirable. Strong technical writing, organisation, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively both independently and within a collaborative team.
