ewi Recruitment is supporting a major rail organisation in the GCC with the appointment of a Director of Operations & Maintenance.

This is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing Operations & Maintenance across a complex rail network, including High-Speed Rail, Freight, Metro and LRT systems.

Metro/LRT experience is highly preferred.

The Role

Reporting into executive leadership, you will be responsible for the strategic direction, performance and continuous improvement of rail operations and maintenance activities across the network.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading Operations & Maintenance strategy, planning and performance management
  • Overseeing safe, reliable and efficient railway operations
  • Managing maintenance delivery across rolling stock, infrastructure and systems assets
  • Driving operational readiness, safety and regulatory compliance
  • Leading Operations Control Centre activities and incident response
  • Managing O&M contractors, stakeholders and regulatory interfaces
  • Developing policies, procedures and operational frameworks
  • Leading large multidisciplinary teams and workforce planning initiatives
  • Supporting budget development, risk management and business planning
  • Providing executive-level reporting and strategic guidance

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Transportation, Rail or a related discipline
  • Minimum 15 years' rail industry experience
  • Proven experience in a senior Operations & Maintenance leadership position
  • Strong understanding of railway operations, maintenance and safety management systems
  • Experience managing large operational teams and budgets
  • Excellent stakeholder management and leadership skills
  • Experience across Metro, LRT, High-Speed Rail and/or Freight Rail environments
  • Previous GCC experience would be advantageous
