Lead Operation and Maintenance (O&M) - Metro/Rail Project

We are seeking an experienced Lead Operation and Maintenance (O&M) professional to oversee the safe, reliable and efficient operation of a major metro or rail project. The successful candidate will provide leadership across day-to-day operations, planned and reactive maintenance, asset performance, service continuity and operational readiness. This role will coordinate multidisciplinary teams covering rolling stock, stations, rail systems, power, signalling, communications, track, facilities and associated infrastructure, ensuring all activities comply with approved procedures, safety standards, contractual obligations and applicable rail regulations.

Key responsibilities include developing and implementing O&M strategies, maintenance plans, operating procedures, performance measures and emergency response arrangements. You will lead mobilisation, testing, commissioning, trial operations and handover activities, while ensuring that assets, systems, documentation, spares, tools and competent personnel are ready for revenue service. The role will monitor service delivery and asset reliability, investigate incidents and failures, oversee corrective and preventive actions, and drive continual improvement. You will also manage interfaces with project delivery teams, contractors, regulators, emergency services and other stakeholders, prepare operational reports, control budgets and resources, and promote a strong safety, quality and customer-focused culture.

Candidates should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in engineering, rail operations, transport, facilities management or a related discipline, together with substantial experience leading O&M activities on metro, railway, mass-transit or similarly complex infrastructure projects. Demonstrable knowledge of rail safety management systems, asset management, maintenance planning, reliability-centred maintenance, incident management and operational readiness is essential. Experience managing multidisciplinary teams, contractors and performance-based contracts will be highly valued. Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, planning and stakeholder-management skills are required, along with the ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions in time-critical situations. Professional registration, recognised rail or safety certifications, and experience in an international or multicultural project environment would be advantageous.
