System Safety Manager - Civil Works (LRT / Rail)

We are supporting a major LRT infrastructure project in Ontario and are looking to appoint an experienced System Safety Manager - Civil Works to join the delivery team with an immediate start.

This is a senior, hands-on role leading system safety activities across civil works and associated systems on a large-scale mass transit project.


The Role

You will be responsible for managing and delivering all system safety and RAMS-related activities for the civil scope of works, working closely with engineering, construction, verification & validation, and external stakeholders.

The civil scope includes structures, track, guideway, stations, architecture, buildings, as well as fire & life safety systems, MEP, grounding, elevators and associated interfaces.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead system safety activities for civil works on a major LRT project
  • Own and manage the Hazard Log (analysis, review, control and reporting)
  • Develop Construction Safety Certification (CSCC) documentation for all certifiable elements
  • Carry out detailed safety analyses in line with EN 50126 and applicable North American standards
  • Interface with the End Client, Independent Safety Assessor (ISA), Designers, Construction and T&C teams
  • Embed safety requirements throughout design, construction and delivery
  • Monitor safety performance, risks and mitigation measures
  • Ensure full compliance with project, regulatory and industry safety requirements

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
  • Strong background in System Safety / RAMS on rail or transit infrastructure projects
  • Proven experience on rail, LRT, metro or major civil infrastructure schemes
  • Excellent knowledge of EN 50126 (FTA Safety Handbook experience a plus)
  • Confident working with multiple stakeholders in a live construction environment
  • Strong communication and coordination skills
  • English fluency required (Italian considered an advantage)
