Senior Project Manager - Healthcare Construction
Senior Project Manager – Healthcare Construction
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of complex healthcare construction projects from pre-construction through to completion. This role will suit a commercially astute and highly organised professional who can manage multiple stakeholders, maintain high standards of quality and safety, and deliver projects within agreed timeframes and budgets.
You will be responsible for overseeing the full project lifecycle, including design coordination, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover. Working closely with healthcare clients, consultants, contractors and internal teams, you will ensure that projects meet operational, regulatory and technical requirements while causing minimal disruption to live clinical environments.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the planning, execution and successful delivery of healthcare construction and refurbishment projects.
- Develop and manage project programmes, budgets, risk registers and reporting processes.
- Coordinate design teams, contractors, specialist suppliers and site-based personnel.
- Monitor progress, quality, costs and performance against agreed project objectives.
- Manage procurement, contract administration, variations, change control and commercial risks.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, building regulations and healthcare-specific standards.
- Maintain effective communication with clients and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support project handover, commissioning, defects management and post-completion reviews.
About you
You will have substantial experience managing construction projects, ideally within acute healthcare, hospitals, clinical facilities or other highly regulated environments. A strong understanding of construction methodologies, building services, design management and contract processes is essential, along with the confidence to make informed decisions in complex and fast-paced settings.
You should hold a relevant qualification in construction, engineering, project management or a related discipline. Membership of a recognised professional body, such as the RICS, CIOB or APM, would be advantageous. Experience using project management software and a proven record of delivering projects safely, on time and within budget are also required.
In return, you will have the opportunity to contribute to significant healthcare developments while working within a collaborative and professionally driven environment. A competitive salary and benefits package will be offered, reflecting your experience and expertise.
