Traveling Senior Superintendent - Corrections
Travelling Senior Superintendent – Corrections
An experienced construction professional is sought for a Travelling Senior Superintendent role overseeing complex correctional and secure-facility projects across multiple locations. This is a site-based leadership position requiring regular travel, strong operational judgement and the ability to manage projects from pre-construction through to completion.
The Role
You will lead site delivery teams and coordinate the day-to-day construction activities on highly regulated projects. Working closely with project managers, clients, consultants, trade contractors and specialist suppliers, you will ensure that works are completed safely, efficiently, to the required quality standards and in line with the agreed programme.
- Direct and supervise site operations, subcontractors and construction personnel.
- Manage short- and long-term programmes, sequencing works and resolving site constraints.
- Coordinate construction activities involving building services, security systems, civil works and specialist installations.
- Monitor progress, quality, materials, labour and productivity, taking corrective action where required.
- Lead site meetings and maintain clear communication with project stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety, environmental and security procedures.
- Review drawings, specifications and technical information, identifying clashes or changes promptly.
- Support commissioning, inspections, handover and close-out activities.
About You
You will have substantial experience supervising major construction projects, ideally within corrections, justice, healthcare, secure facilities or another highly controlled environment. A proven record of managing large teams and multiple trade packages is essential, together with the confidence to make decisions in demanding site conditions.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, quality control and site safety requirements. Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills are required, as is the ability to build effective relationships while maintaining high standards of accountability.
A relevant construction qualification, recognised safety training and extensive experience in a senior site leadership position are desirable. The role involves frequent travel and periods away from home, so flexibility and a willingness to work across different project locations are essential.
