Superintendent
We are seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of day-to-day site operations. The successful candidate will provide visible leadership across the site, coordinating supervisors, subcontractors and operational teams to ensure work is completed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, programmes and legal requirements. You will monitor progress, manage priorities and help maintain a productive, professional and collaborative working environment.
Key responsibilities will include planning and allocating labour, plant and materials; supervising daily activities; reviewing method statements, risk assessments and permits; and ensuring appropriate quality control measures are consistently applied. You will conduct site inspections, monitor standards of workmanship and address issues promptly, escalating significant risks or delays where necessary. The role will also involve maintaining accurate records, contributing to progress reports, supporting programme updates and liaising with project managers, consultants, suppliers and client representatives. A strong focus on health, safety and environmental performance is essential, including leading briefings, promoting safe working practices and ensuring that incidents, near misses and defects are properly investigated and recorded.
Applicants should have substantial experience in a supervisory or site leadership position, ideally within construction, engineering, infrastructure, manufacturing or another safety-critical environment. A sound understanding of project delivery, construction methods, quality assurance and relevant legislation is required, together with the confidence to interpret technical information and make practical decisions under pressure. You should be an organised and effective communicator who can motivate teams, manage competing demands and build positive working relationships at all levels. Relevant professional qualifications or industry certifications are desirable, as is experience using digital reporting, scheduling or document management systems. A full driving licence and the flexibility to work across active sites, including occasional early starts, extended hours or weekends, may be required.
