Traveling Project Director
We are seeking an experienced Traveling Project Director to lead the successful delivery of complex projects across multiple locations. This senior role will suit a confident project professional who can operate strategically while remaining closely involved in day-to-day delivery, stakeholder management and commercial performance.
You will take overall responsibility for project planning, mobilisation, execution and close-out, ensuring work is delivered safely, on schedule, within budget and to the required quality standards. Regular travel will be required to project sites, with the ability to build effective relationships across geographically dispersed teams.
Key responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction to project teams, consultants, contractors and specialist suppliers.
- Develop and manage integrated project plans, budgets, programmes, risk registers and reporting processes.
- Monitor progress against agreed milestones, identifying issues early and implementing effective corrective action.
- Manage procurement, contracts, variations, commercial performance and resource allocation.
- Maintain strong communication with clients, stakeholders and internal leadership throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety, quality, environmental and regulatory requirements.
- Lead project reviews, resolve escalated issues and promote continuous improvement across all locations.
- Support business development activities, including tenders, proposals, feasibility assessments and client presentations.
About you
You will have substantial experience directing large, complex or multi-site projects, ideally within a technical, engineering, construction, infrastructure or related environment. A proven record of delivering projects from concept through to completion is essential, together with strong commercial awareness and the ability to manage competing priorities.
You should be an accomplished communicator and negotiator, capable of influencing senior stakeholders and motivating diverse teams. Excellent organisational skills, sound judgement and a practical approach to problem-solving are required. Formal project management, engineering or construction qualifications will be advantageous, as will experience with recognised project controls and contract-management methodologies.
This position involves frequent national and, where required, international travel. A full driving licence and flexibility to work away from home are essential.
