Traveling General Superintendent
Travelling General Superintendent
An experienced Travelling General Superintendent is required to oversee the successful delivery of major construction projects across multiple locations. This is a site-based leadership role suited to a confident construction professional who can manage complex programmes, coordinate diverse teams and maintain consistently high standards of safety, quality and workmanship.
Working closely with project managers, subcontractors, consultants and clients, you will take overall responsibility for the day-to-day performance of assigned projects. You will provide visible leadership on site, ensure activities are properly planned and resourced, and drive projects forward in line with agreed budgets, timescales and specifications.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate all site construction activities from mobilisation through to completion and handover.
- Manage and support site superintendents, forepersons, subcontractors and trade partners.
- Review drawings, specifications, programmes and method statements to ensure efficient delivery.
- Monitor progress, productivity, materials, plant and labour requirements across each project.
- Maintain rigorous health and safety standards, ensuring compliance with legislation and site procedures.
- Inspect completed works and promote high standards of quality, workmanship and environmental control.
- Identify potential risks, delays and variations, implementing practical solutions where required.
- Attend progress meetings and provide clear updates to senior stakeholders and project teams.
- Support commissioning, close-out, snagging and final handover activities.
About you
You will have substantial experience in a senior site management or general superintendent position, ideally gained on large-scale, technically complex construction projects. A strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing, temporary works, contract requirements and site safety is essential.
You should be an organised and decisive leader with excellent communication and problem-solving skills. The role involves regular travel and extended periods working away from home, so flexibility and a willingness to work across different project locations are required. Relevant construction qualifications, professional memberships and current safety training will be advantageous.
A competitive package is available, together with the opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-profile projects within a collaborative and professionally focused environment.
