Field Superintendent

An experienced Field Superintendent is sought to lead and coordinate day-to-day operations across active field locations. This role will oversee site teams, contractors and specialist suppliers, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently and in line with approved plans, quality standards and regulatory requirements.

Working closely with project managers, engineers and client representatives, you will provide visible leadership in the field and act as the primary point of contact for operational matters. You will monitor progress, resolve issues promptly and ensure that activities remain on schedule and within agreed budgets.

Key responsibilities

  • Supervise daily field operations, construction, maintenance or installation activities.
  • Coordinate employees, subcontractors, equipment, materials and site logistics.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental procedures.
  • Review work plans, method statements, risk assessments and permit requirements.
  • Monitor productivity, workmanship and progress against programme milestones.
  • Conduct site inspections, toolbox talks and regular performance briefings.
  • Identify risks, manage changes and escalate technical or operational concerns when required.
  • Maintain accurate records, including daily reports, timesheets, quality documentation and incident reports.
  • Support commissioning, testing, handover and close-out activities.

About you

You will have proven experience in a field-based supervisory or superintendent role, ideally within construction, engineering, infrastructure, energy or a related industry. A strong understanding of site operations, safe systems of work and contractor management is essential.

You should be confident interpreting drawings, specifications and schedules, with the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-moving environment. Excellent communication and organisational skills are required, together with a practical, collaborative approach to problem-solving.

Relevant technical, trade or supervisory qualifications are desirable. The role may involve travel, extended periods on site and occasional out-of-hours work, so flexibility is important. In return, you will have the opportunity to contribute to significant projects while working within a professional and supportive environment.
