Electrical Field Superintendent
Electrical Field Superintendent
An experienced Electrical Field Superintendent is required to lead and coordinate electrical installation activities across a major construction or engineering project. This is a site-based role, responsible for ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently and to the required technical, quality and programme standards.
You will supervise electrical subcontractors, site teams and specialist trades, providing clear direction and maintaining effective communication with project management, engineering and commissioning personnel. The role will involve monitoring progress, resolving site issues and ensuring all works comply with approved drawings, specifications, inspection requirements and applicable regulations.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate and supervise electrical installation, testing and commissioning activities.
- Review drawings, specifications, method statements and work schedules before activities commence.
- Manage daily site priorities, labour requirements, materials and equipment to maintain progress.
- Monitor workmanship and ensure installations meet quality, safety and environmental expectations.
- Coordinate with civil, mechanical, instrumentation and commissioning teams to prevent clashes and delays.
- Identify technical or construction issues, agree practical solutions and escalate risks when necessary.
- Maintain accurate records, including progress reports, inspection documentation and outstanding works.
- Support site inspections, testing, energisation and handover activities.
About you
You will have substantial experience supervising electrical construction projects, ideally within industrial, infrastructure, energy, utilities or process environments. A recognised electrical qualification or equivalent technical background is required, together with a strong understanding of electrical installation practices, testing procedures and relevant British or international standards.
Strong leadership and organisational skills are essential, as is the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and project documentation. You should be confident managing competing priorities, working to demanding schedules and communicating effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
A proactive approach to health and safety is vital. The successful applicant will be expected to lead by example, promote a positive site culture and ensure all personnel follow approved procedures and safe systems of work. Flexibility to work on active construction sites and travel or work away from home may be required.
