You will provide visible leadership to operational and maintenance teams, ensuring that activities are properly planned, resourced and delivered. The role involves coordinating day-to-day operations, responding to incidents and driving continuous improvement in plant performance, reliability and efficiency.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and supervise wastewater treatment operations, ensuring processes remain safe, effective and compliant.
- Manage operational teams, including workforce planning, performance management, coaching and development.
- Monitor plant performance, process data and key performance indicators, taking corrective action where required.
- Ensure compliance with environmental permits, health and safety legislation, company procedures and industry standards.
- Coordinate planned and reactive maintenance activities with engineering and technical colleagues.
- Manage operational incidents, investigations and emergency response arrangements.
- Maintain accurate records, reports and documentation relating to performance, compliance and resource use.
- Identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, sustainability and customer outcomes.
About you
You will have substantial experience in wastewater treatment or a closely related water-sector environment, together with a strong understanding of treatment processes, asset operation and regulatory requirements. Experience of leading operational teams in a complex, safety-critical setting is essential.
A relevant technical qualification, such as an HNC, HND or degree in water, environmental, engineering or a related discipline, would be advantageous. You should be confident interpreting process data, managing competing priorities and making sound decisions under pressure.
What is offered
This position offers the opportunity to make a direct contribution to environmental protection, operational resilience and public health. You will join a supportive, professional environment with opportunities for development, training and progression. A full driving licence and willingness to participate in an out-of-hours or standby rota may be required.
