Project Manager (Wastewater Projects)

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of wastewater infrastructure and treatment projects from initial planning through to completion. This role will involve managing projects across design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover, ensuring that work is delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required technical and quality standards. Projects may include wastewater treatment upgrades, pumping stations, sewer networks, process improvements and associated civil, mechanical and electrical works.

You will be responsible for developing and maintaining project programmes, budgets, risk registers and delivery plans, while coordinating internal teams, consultants, contractors, suppliers and other stakeholders. Key duties include overseeing design development, reviewing technical documentation, managing procurement and contract processes, monitoring construction progress, resolving issues and implementing effective change control. You will lead regular progress meetings, prepare clear reports for senior stakeholders, ensure compliance with health and safety and environmental requirements, and support commissioning, performance testing and final project close-out. Building strong working relationships and maintaining clear communication throughout the project lifecycle will be essential.

Applicants should have proven experience managing wastewater, water, utilities, civil engineering or other complex infrastructure projects, ideally within a regulated or operational environment. A relevant qualification in engineering, construction, project management or a related discipline is desirable, along with practical knowledge of project controls, construction methodologies, commercial management and health and safety legislation. Experience working with NEC or similar forms of contract would be advantageous. You will be highly organised, commercially aware and confident making decisions in a changing environment. Strong leadership, negotiation, problem-solving and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results through multidisciplinary teams.
