We are seeking an experienced Superintendent – Water/Wastewater to lead the safe, reliable and efficient operation of water and wastewater treatment facilities, collection systems and associated infrastructure. The successful candidate will oversee day-to-day operations, maintenance coordination, regulatory compliance and performance improvement across multiple sites. This role will provide operational leadership to supervisors, operators, technicians and contractors, ensuring services are delivered to the required standards while protecting public health, the environment and employee safety.

Key responsibilities include supervising treatment processes, pumping stations, reservoirs, networks and related assets; developing and implementing operating procedures, emergency response plans and preventive maintenance programmes; monitoring plant performance, water quality, effluent quality, flows, chemical usage and energy consumption; and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, resilience and service continuity. You will coordinate planned and reactive work, manage operational risks, investigate incidents and non-conformances, and ensure accurate records, reports and regulatory submissions are maintained. The role will also involve budget planning, resource allocation, contractor management, procurement support and participation in capital works, upgrades and commissioning activities.

Applicants should have substantial experience in water and/or wastewater treatment operations, with proven leadership experience in a supervisory or superintendent-level role. A relevant technical qualification in water operations, environmental engineering, civil engineering, chemistry or a related discipline is desirable, together with appropriate operational certifications and a strong understanding of drinking water and wastewater legislation, health and safety requirements, environmental controls and quality management systems. You will be a confident decision-maker with excellent communication, problem-solving and organisational skills, able to respond calmly to operational emergencies and build effective relationships with regulators, contractors, internal teams and the wider community. A valid driving licence and the flexibility to participate in an out-of-hours or emergency call-out rota may be required.
