We are seeking an experienced Superintendent – Water/Wastewater to lead the safe, reliable and efficient operation, maintenance and improvement of water treatment, wastewater treatment and associated collection and distribution systems. The successful candidate will supervise operational teams, coordinate daily activities and ensure services consistently meet regulatory, environmental, quality and customer requirements. This role will involve working across treatment facilities, pumping stations, networks, storage assets and related infrastructure.

Key responsibilities include planning and monitoring operational programmes, allocating staff and resources, coordinating planned and reactive maintenance, and responding effectively to incidents, process deviations and emergency situations. You will review plant performance, identify opportunities to improve efficiency and resilience, and support capital works, upgrades and commissioning activities. The role will also require accurate record keeping, preparation of operational reports, monitoring budgets and expenditure, and maintaining effective relationships with contractors, regulators, technical specialists and internal stakeholders.

Applicants should have substantial experience in water and/or wastewater treatment operations, with proven supervisory or management experience in a utilities, municipal, industrial or similarly regulated environment. A relevant qualification in water operations, environmental science, engineering or a related discipline is desirable, together with a strong understanding of treatment processes, asset management, health and safety, environmental compliance and operational risk control. You will be a practical and confident leader who can motivate teams, make sound decisions under pressure and communicate clearly at all levels. A commitment to continuous improvement, professional standards and safe working practices is essential. The ability to participate in an on-call rota, work flexible hours and attend operational sites as required may also be necessary.
