Civil Engineer – Site Design & Field Operations (PE or EI)

An exciting opportunity is available for a Civil Engineer with a Professional Engineer (PE) licence or Engineer Intern (EI) status to support the delivery of civil infrastructure and site development projects. This role combines technical design responsibilities with field-based coordination, offering variety across project planning, construction support and on-site problem-solving.

You will work closely with project managers, surveyors, contractors, consultants and regulatory authorities to develop practical, compliant and cost-effective solutions. The successful candidate will contribute to projects from initial feasibility and design through to construction completion, while maintaining a strong focus on quality, safety and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare and review civil engineering designs, plans, specifications and technical reports for site development and infrastructure works.
  • Support grading, drainage, stormwater, utility, access road and earthworks design activities.
  • Carry out site inspections, field measurements and construction observations, documenting progress and identifying potential issues.
  • Review contractor submissions, shop drawings, work methods and material certifications for compliance with approved designs.
  • Respond to technical queries, assist with resolving design changes and provide engineering recommendations during construction.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to meet programme, budget and quality requirements.
  • Maintain accurate project records, inspection reports, calculations and correspondence.
  • Promote safe working practices and ensure activities comply with relevant legislation, standards and environmental requirements.

About you

You will hold a degree in Civil Engineering and have experience in site design, civil infrastructure or construction support. PE licensure or EI status is required, along with a sound understanding of engineering principles, applicable codes and permitting processes. Experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation or comparable design software would be advantageous.

Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills are essential. You should be comfortable balancing office-based design work with regular site visits, working independently when required and collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams. A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to project locations are also required.
