Crew Supervisor- Water Field Operations

We are seeking an experienced Crew Supervisor to lead field operations within a busy water services environment. In this hands-on role, you will supervise a team carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, repairs, inspections and installation activities across water networks and associated infrastructure. You will coordinate daily workloads, allocate resources, monitor progress and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.

Your responsibilities will include briefing crews before work begins, checking equipment and materials, reviewing permits and risk assessments, and maintaining clear communication with customers, colleagues, contractors and operational control teams. You will monitor site activities, identify hazards, respond to unexpected issues and make practical decisions to keep work moving. You will also complete accurate records, update work management systems, report incidents and defects, and ensure all activities comply with relevant legislation, technical procedures and environmental requirements.

The successful candidate will have proven experience supervising field-based teams, preferably within water, utilities, construction, highways or a comparable operational environment. You should be confident interpreting work instructions, plans and safety documentation, and capable of managing competing priorities in changing conditions. A strong understanding of health and safety, safe digging practices, traffic management and utility operations is desirable. You will need good communication and leadership skills, a practical approach to problem-solving, and the ability to motivate a team while maintaining high standards. A relevant technical qualification, industry training and a full driving licence are advantageous. This role may involve outdoor work in all weather conditions, emergency call-outs, travel between sites and participation in an on-call or standby rota.
