We are seeking a Civil Engineer – Site Design & Field Operations to support the delivery of high-quality civil engineering and infrastructure projects from initial concept through to completion. This role will suit a technically capable professional who enjoys combining design work with practical site-based responsibilities and who can work effectively with clients, contractors, consultants and wider project teams.
You will prepare and review civil engineering designs, drawings, specifications, calculations and technical reports for site development, infrastructure, drainage, earthworks, utilities, access roads and associated works. Responsibilities will include carrying out site investigations and surveys, assessing ground and drainage conditions, developing practical design solutions, and ensuring work complies with relevant standards, regulations and project requirements. You will also assist with planning applications, technical submissions, cost estimates, programmes and procurement activities, while maintaining accurate project records and documentation.
On site, you will monitor construction progress, inspect completed and ongoing works, review setting-out information, and liaise with contractors to resolve technical issues promptly. You will support quality assurance, health and safety compliance, environmental controls and risk management, identifying potential problems and recommending effective solutions. The role may involve coordinating site meetings, producing progress updates and witnessing testing and commissioning activities.
Applicants should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering and have relevant experience in civil design, construction or site engineering. Familiarity with industry-standard design software, technical drawing packages and relevant British Standards is desirable, along with knowledge of drainage, highways, earthworks and utility infrastructure. Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills are essential. You should be comfortable working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, with the flexibility to travel to project sites as required. A full UK driving licence may be required.
