Senior Protection Engineer (Site-Based - T&D Projects)
Location: Spain (2-3 months), then Poland (until year-end)

Contract Type: Freelance/Contract

EWI is recruiting for a Senior Protection Engineer to support transmission and distribution (T&D) projects in Europe. This is a site-based role starting in Spain, followed by relocation to Poland, working directly with a major OEM within their Grid Solutions division.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Commissioning and testing of protection schemes (distance, differential, overcurrent, etc.)
  • Relay settings validation and on-site functional testing
  • Integration with SCADA and control systems
  • Compliance with grid protection standards and local regulations
  • Technical support during energisation and fault response

Requirements:

  • Minimum 7 years' experience in protection engineering for HV/MV substations
  • Hands-on commissioning experience using GE or GE-related OEM protection systems
  • Strong understanding of IEC standards and protection philosophies
  • Fluent in English; additional European language skills beneficial
  • Mobile and flexible for international site-based work
