This role offers the opportunity to work across a varied portfolio, contributing technical expertise to projects involving flood risk management, drainage, surface water, hydrology and hydraulic modelling.
You will work collaboratively with engineers, environmental specialists, planners, contractors and stakeholders to develop practical, resilient and cost-effective solutions. The successful candidate will have a sound understanding of water resources principles and be confident applying technical knowledge to both new and existing infrastructure.
Key responsibilities
- Undertake hydrological and hydraulic assessments for watercourses, drainage systems and flood risk schemes.
- Develop, review and interpret hydraulic models, technical reports, calculations and design drawings.
- Contribute to the design of sustainable drainage systems, flood alleviation measures and water management infrastructure.
- Support project planning, cost estimation, risk assessment and the preparation of technical specifications.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, landowners and delivery partners.
- Provide technical input during construction, site investigations and the resolution of design queries.
- Maintain accurate project records and ensure work complies with relevant legislation, standards and professional guidance.
About you
You will hold a degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering, water engineering, environmental engineering, hydrology or a related discipline. Experience in water resources, flood risk, drainage design or hydraulic modelling is essential. Familiarity with industry-standard modelling and design software, such as InfoWorks ICM, Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, GIS or AutoCAD, would be advantageous.
We are looking for someone who is analytical, organised and able to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. You should be comfortable managing priorities, working independently and contributing positively within multidisciplinary teams. Membership of a relevant professional body, or progress towards professional registration, would be desirable.
What is offered
The role provides varied technical challenges, opportunities for professional development and the chance to contribute to projects that improve community resilience and protect the environment. Flexible working arrangements and support for continued learning may be available.
