Project Manager – Rail/Transport
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of complex rail and transport projects. This role will involve managing projects from initial concept and planning through to delivery, commissioning and close-out, ensuring that they are completed safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, contractors, consultants and key stakeholders, maintaining clear communication throughout the project lifecycle. The successful candidate will be confident working in a regulated environment and able to manage competing priorities across infrastructure, engineering, operational and commercial workstreams.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the planning, delivery and completion of rail or transport infrastructure projects.
- Develop and maintain detailed programmes, budgets, risk registers and project documentation.
- Coordinate design, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning and handover activities.
- Lead project meetings and provide accurate progress reports to senior stakeholders.
- Monitor performance against agreed scope, cost, time, quality and safety requirements.
- Identify, assess and manage project risks, issues, dependencies and opportunities.
- Work collaboratively with contractors, suppliers, technical specialists and operational teams.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, industry standards, assurance processes and health and safety requirements.
- Support commercial management, change control, contract administration and claims resolution.
About you
You will have proven experience managing projects within the rail, transport, infrastructure or wider engineering sector. A recognised project management qualification, such as APM, PRINCE2 or equivalent experience, would be advantageous. You should be commercially aware, highly organised and able to interpret technical information while maintaining a clear focus on delivery outcomes.
Strong leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills are essential, together with the ability to influence others and make sound decisions in a challenging environment. Experience of working within safety-critical or heavily regulated projects would be particularly valuable.
This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to high-profile transport projects while developing your career within a collaborative and forward-looking environment.
