Electrical Estimator

Reference: jx1cstd3yhbipqrqbyi6

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to prepare accurate and commercially competitive tenders for a range of electrical installation projects. Working closely with project managers, quantity surveyors, suppliers and clients, you will assess drawings, specifications and schedules to develop detailed estimates that reflect the full scope of works. Projects may include commercial, industrial, residential or infrastructure environments, so the ability to interpret varied technical information and adapt to different requirements is essential.

Your responsibilities will include reviewing tender documentation, carrying out site visits where required, preparing bills of quantities and material take-offs, obtaining and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations, and calculating labour, plant, materials, preliminaries, overheads and profit. You will identify risks, exclusions, variations and potential cost-saving opportunities, ensuring that all assumptions are clearly documented. You will also maintain estimating records, support the preparation of tender submissions, contribute to post-tender negotiations and assist project teams with the handover of awarded work. Accurate pricing, strong attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines are central to this role.

Applicants should have proven experience estimating electrical works, ideally within a contracting, construction or engineering environment. A sound understanding of electrical systems, installation methods, industry standards, health and safety requirements and current market costs is required. You should be confident using estimating software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and be able to read electrical drawings and technical specifications. Strong numerical, analytical and communication skills are essential, together with a methodical approach and the ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously. A relevant electrical or commercial qualification would be advantageous, as would experience with design-and-build projects and formal procurement processes.
