We are seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive and commercially robust estimates for major infrastructure and civil engineering projects. Working across tenders and pre-construction opportunities, you will assess project requirements, develop pricing strategies and support the delivery of bids that reflect the scope, programme, risks and commercial objectives of each scheme.

Your responsibilities will include reviewing drawings, specifications, schedules and tender documentation; preparing detailed quantities and cost estimates; obtaining and analysing supplier and subcontractor quotations; and building clear, accurate pricing schedules. You will liaise with project managers, engineers, planners, commercial teams and external stakeholders to clarify requirements, identify opportunities and ensure that estimates are fully aligned with construction methodology. You will also contribute to value engineering, risk and opportunity reviews, site assessments, tender submissions, presentations and post-tender negotiations. Maintaining organised records and keeping informed of market conditions, labour costs, materials pricing and industry developments will be an important part of the role.

Applicants should have proven estimating experience within heavy civil engineering, infrastructure, highways, earthworks, structures, utilities or a related sector. A strong understanding of construction methods, contract documents, build-ups, preliminaries, plant, labour and materials is essential, together with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications. Experience using estimating and quantity surveying software, spreadsheets and digital measurement tools is highly desirable. You will need excellent numerical and analytical skills, commercial awareness and a methodical approach to producing work under demanding deadlines. Strong communication and negotiation skills are also required, along with the confidence to work independently and collaboratively across multiple tenders. A relevant qualification in civil engineering, quantity surveying, construction management or a related discipline would be advantageous, although substantial practical estimating experience will be valued. This is an opportunity to contribute to complex, high-value projects while developing your career within a professional and supportive environment.
