Superintendent I
We are seeking an experienced and conscientious Superintendent I to oversee the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of operational activities across an assigned site or work area. The successful candidate will coordinate daily work programmes, allocate resources and provide clear direction to employees, contractors and specialist teams. You will monitor progress against agreed schedules, identify potential delays or issues, and take timely action to maintain productivity and service standards.
Key responsibilities will include supervising day-to-day operations; interpreting plans, specifications, procedures and technical documentation; conducting regular site inspections; and ensuring that work is completed in accordance with approved requirements. You will promote a strong safety culture by implementing safe systems of work, carrying out briefings and addressing hazards or non-compliance promptly. The role will also involve checking the quality of completed work, maintaining accurate records, contributing to progress reports and liaising with relevant stakeholders to resolve operational or technical matters. You may be required to support planning, cost control, procurement, commissioning, handover and the investigation of incidents or defects.
Applicants should have relevant experience in a supervisory, construction, engineering, infrastructure, facilities or operational environment, together with a sound understanding of health and safety, quality assurance and risk management. The ability to read technical drawings and documentation, organise competing priorities and make practical decisions under pressure is essential. You will need strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to lead teams, challenge unsafe or ineffective practices and build positive working relationships. A relevant vocational or technical qualification, supervisory training and appropriate industry certifications would be advantageous. This position may require travel between sites, occasional out-of-hours work and the ability to work in varied weather or site conditions. A commitment to professionalism, continuous improvement and inclusive teamwork is expected.
