We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to support the successful delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure projects from planning through to completion. This is a senior role for a technically capable professional who can lead engineering activities, coordinate project stakeholders and ensure that works are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with approved designs, specifications and contractual requirements.

Responsibilities will include reviewing drawings, specifications, method statements and technical submissions; monitoring construction progress and quality; and providing clear engineering guidance to site teams, contractors and consultants. You will inspect works, identify defects or non-conformances, review test results and oversee corrective actions where required. The role will also involve managing technical queries, assessing variations and changes, maintaining accurate project records, and contributing to progress reports, risk assessments, cost control and programme reviews. You will support the resolution of design and construction issues, ensuring that decisions are properly documented and communicated to all relevant parties.

Applicants should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering, construction or a related discipline, together with substantial experience in project engineering, construction supervision or engineering inspection. Experience of major highways, structures, transport, utilities or other complex infrastructure projects would be advantageous. You should have a strong understanding of construction methods, quality assurance procedures, health and safety requirements, contract administration and relevant British Standards. Chartered or incorporated status, or active progress towards professional registration, is desirable. Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the confidence to challenge poor practice and build effective working relationships. A full driving licence and the ability to travel to project sites may be required.
