Water/Wastewater Senior Project Manager – Process Mechanical
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of complex water and wastewater projects, with a particular focus on process mechanical systems. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically strong project professional to manage major programmes from concept and design through to construction, commissioning and handover.
You will take responsibility for project performance, ensuring that work is delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards. Working closely with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers and internal teams, you will provide clear leadership across all stages of project delivery and build strong, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the planning, management and delivery of process mechanical projects within the water and wastewater sector.
- Develop and maintain project programmes, budgets, risk registers and delivery strategies.
- Coordinate design, procurement, installation, testing and commissioning activities.
- Manage multidisciplinary teams, specialist subcontractors and supply chain partners.
- Monitor progress, costs, quality, health and safety, and environmental performance.
- Identify and manage project risks, issues, changes and commercial opportunities.
- Prepare and present regular progress reports to clients, senior management and project stakeholders.
- Support the development of junior project managers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
About you
You will have significant experience managing complex engineering or construction projects within the water, wastewater, utilities or process industries. A strong understanding of process mechanical systems, including pumping, pipework, valves, tanks and associated plant, is essential. Experience working on treatment works or other major infrastructure projects would be highly advantageous.
You should be commercially aware, confident in stakeholder management and capable of making sound decisions in a fast-paced delivery environment. Excellent communication, negotiation and organisational skills are required, alongside a proactive approach to problem-solving. A recognised project management or engineering qualification, such as a degree, HNC/HND, APM, PRINCE2 or equivalent experience, would be beneficial.
The role may involve travel to project sites and occasional overnight stays. In return, you will have the opportunity to work on high-profile infrastructure projects, develop your career and contribute to the improvement of essential water and wastewater services.
