We are seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to lead the technical delivery of a range of civil engineering projects from concept through to completion. The successful candidate will provide professional expertise across infrastructure, highways, drainage, earthworks and associated development works, ensuring designs are safe, practical, compliant and delivered to a consistently high standard. You will manage technical requirements, contribute to project planning and coordinate effectively with clients, contractors, consultants and other stakeholders.

Key responsibilities will include preparing, reviewing and approving calculations, specifications, drawings and technical reports; developing detailed civil engineering designs in accordance with relevant British Standards, Eurocodes, local authority requirements and other applicable guidance; and providing technical input during feasibility, planning, procurement and construction stages. You will oversee design packages, monitor progress against agreed programmes and budgets, identify risks, and support the resolution of technical issues. The role will also involve mentoring junior engineers, delegating work appropriately, checking deliverables and promoting a positive culture of quality, collaboration and continuous improvement. You may also be required to attend site visits, design meetings and progress reviews.

Applicants should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering and have substantial experience working on civil infrastructure or development projects. Chartered or working towards Chartered Engineer status would be advantageous. You will need strong knowledge of relevant design standards, technical approval processes, construction methods, health and safety requirements and environmental considerations. Proficiency in industry-standard design and analysis software is expected, together with the ability to interpret technical information and produce clear, accurate documentation. Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the confidence to make sound engineering judgements and manage competing priorities. A proactive approach, attention to detail and the ability to work independently while contributing effectively to multidisciplinary teams are also required. A full driving licence may be necessary for site-based responsibilities.
