Water/Wastewater Project Engineer I

We are seeking a Water/Wastewater Project Engineer I to support the planning, design, and delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Working under the guidance of experienced engineers and project managers, you will contribute to projects involving water treatment, wastewater treatment, pumping systems, pipelines, storage facilities, stormwater systems, and related civil infrastructure. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer to develop technical expertise while working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and supporting projects from concept through construction.

Responsibilities will include preparing engineering calculations, technical reports, design drawings, specifications, cost estimates, schedules, and permit documentation. You will assist with hydraulic modelling, process evaluations, equipment selection, and the preparation of design alternatives. The role will also involve reviewing plans and submittals, supporting construction administration and site inspections, responding to technical questions, tracking project information, and helping ensure that work is delivered safely, accurately, on schedule, and within budget. You will communicate with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and internal team members, while maintaining clear and well-organised project records.

A bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental, chemical, or a closely related engineering discipline is required. Previous experience through internships, co-operative education, or graduate projects in water, wastewater, environmental, or civil engineering is preferred. Candidates should have a sound understanding of engineering principles, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, hydraulic modelling software, GIS, or other engineering design tools is an advantage. The successful candidate will be organised, detail-oriented, eager to learn, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a team environment. Eligibility for professional engineering registration, or progress toward registration, is desirable.
