Project Manager - Water/Wastewater
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects from planning and design through to construction, commissioning, and handover. This role will manage projects of varying scale and complexity, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality and regulatory standards. You will work closely with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, regulators, and internal teams to coordinate activities and maintain strong working relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
Key responsibilities will include developing project plans, programmes, budgets, risk registers, and procurement strategies; managing design development, approvals, construction, testing, and commissioning activities; and monitoring progress against agreed milestones and performance objectives. You will lead project meetings, prepare clear reports, manage variations and commercial matters, and proactively identify and resolve issues that could affect delivery. The role will also involve ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, quality, and industry requirements, while promoting a positive culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. You may oversee multidisciplinary teams and coordinate multiple workstreams across treatment facilities, pumping stations, pipelines, networks, and associated civil, mechanical, and electrical infrastructure.
Applicants should have proven project management experience within the water, wastewater, utilities, civil engineering, or related infrastructure sectors. A relevant qualification in engineering, construction, project management, or a similar discipline is preferred, along with experience managing budgets, programmes, contractors, and stakeholder expectations. Strong knowledge of project controls, contract administration, risk management, and health and safety practices is essential. Excellent communication, negotiation, organisation, and problem-solving skills are required, together with the ability to make sound decisions in a changing delivery environment. Experience with recognised project management methodologies and contract forms, as well as professional accreditation or chartered status, would be advantageous.
