Project Manager - Rolling Stock

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager – Rolling Stock to lead the successful delivery of complex rail vehicle projects from initial definition through to commissioning and handover. The role will involve managing project scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety and performance requirements while ensuring that customer and operational expectations are consistently met. You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams and work closely with engineering, procurement, manufacturing, testing, fleet operations and maintenance stakeholders.

Key responsibilities will include developing and maintaining integrated project plans, monitoring progress and financial performance, managing risks, issues, dependencies and change control, and providing clear and timely status reports to senior stakeholders. You will oversee supplier and partner activities, support contract and commercial management, and ensure that technical, regulatory and safety requirements are fully addressed throughout the project lifecycle. The successful candidate will also lead project meetings, facilitate decision-making, manage interfaces between workstreams and ensure that testing, acceptance, documentation and handover activities are delivered to the required standard.

Applicants should have proven experience managing projects within the rail, transportation, engineering, manufacturing or another highly regulated industry, ideally with direct exposure to rolling stock, rail systems or fleet delivery. A strong understanding of project management methodologies, governance, risk management, budgeting and reporting is essential. You will be an organised and confident communicator, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels and resolving complex issues in a collaborative manner. Experience working with contracts, suppliers, safety-critical environments and cross-functional teams is highly desirable. A relevant qualification in project management, engineering, business or a related discipline would be advantageous.
