Water Resources Engineer

We are seeking a Water Resources Engineer to support the planning, design, and delivery of projects involving flood risk management, drainage, water infrastructure, and sustainable water resource development. The successful candidate will contribute to multidisciplinary teams, applying sound engineering principles to develop practical, resilient, and environmentally responsible solutions for public and private sector clients.

Responsibilities will include preparing technical reports, feasibility studies, calculations, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates; undertaking hydrological and hydraulic assessments; developing and reviewing drainage, flood mitigation, and water management designs; and using appropriate modelling software to assess network performance and flood risk. You will interpret survey and site data, support planning and permitting processes, coordinate with engineers and technical specialists, and assist with project delivery from concept through construction. The role may also involve site inspections, construction support, reviewing contractor submissions, monitoring programme and budget performance, and communicating technical findings to clients and stakeholders.

Applicants should hold a degree in civil engineering, water engineering, environmental engineering, or a related discipline, with relevant professional experience in water resources, drainage, flood risk, or hydraulic design. Experience with industry-standard modelling and design tools, such as GIS and hydraulic or hydrological software, is desirable. You should have a sound understanding of applicable technical standards, environmental requirements, and health and safety principles, together with strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills. The ability to manage priorities, work collaboratively, and produce accurate deliverables to agreed deadlines is essential. Professional registration or progress towards registration is advantageous.
