An experienced Project Engineer is required to support the delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects from concept through to completion. The successful candidate will contribute to the planning, design, procurement, construction and commissioning of projects across treatment, pumping, pipeline and associated civil infrastructure. This is an opportunity to work on technically varied schemes while collaborating with engineering, commercial, environmental and construction teams.

Responsibilities will include developing and reviewing designs, specifications, drawings, calculations and technical reports; coordinating design interfaces and resolving engineering issues; preparing scopes of work, cost estimates, programmes and procurement documentation; and monitoring progress against agreed time, cost, quality and safety requirements. You will liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers, regulators and other stakeholders, attend site meetings and inspections, support construction activities, and ensure that works comply with relevant legislation, standards, contract requirements and environmental obligations. The role will also involve identifying risks, maintaining technical records, contributing to project reporting and supporting commissioning, handover and close-out activities.

Applicants should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in civil, mechanical, environmental or water engineering, together with relevant experience delivering water or wastewater projects. A sound understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes, pipelines, pumping systems, hydraulic principles and construction methodologies is desirable. Experience with design standards, health and safety requirements, contract administration and project controls will be advantageous. You should be commercially aware, organised and confident in managing competing priorities, with strong written and verbal communication skills. The ability to work collaboratively, investigate problems and make practical, evidence-based decisions is essential. Professional registration or progress towards professional accreditation is welcomed, as is proficiency with relevant engineering, document control and project management software.
