Project Manager (Water)
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager (Water) to lead the successful delivery of water and wastewater projects from initial planning through to completion. The role will involve managing project scope, programme, budget, quality, health and safety, environmental performance, and stakeholder expectations across a range of infrastructure, treatment, network, or asset improvement schemes. You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams and ensure that projects are delivered efficiently, safely, and in accordance with contractual, regulatory, and technical requirements.
Key responsibilities will include developing project execution plans, delivery strategies, budgets, risk registers, and detailed programmes; monitoring progress and implementing corrective actions where required; managing consultants, contractors, suppliers, and internal technical specialists; and maintaining clear communication with clients, regulators, communities, and other stakeholders. You will oversee procurement and contract administration, review designs and technical submissions, support planning and approvals, manage change control, and ensure that project records, reporting, and governance requirements are maintained. The role will also involve identifying opportunities to improve delivery methods, reduce risk, enhance sustainability, and achieve value for money.
Applicants should have proven project management experience within the water, wastewater, utilities, civil engineering, or broader infrastructure sector, with a strong understanding of project controls, commercial management, construction delivery, and relevant health, safety, and environmental obligations. A recognised project management, engineering, or construction qualification is desirable, together with experience managing complex projects and multidisciplinary teams. You will be organised, commercially aware, and confident in making decisions, resolving issues, and influencing stakeholders at all levels. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities are essential. Experience with collaborative contracts, regulatory frameworks, digital project management systems, and sustainability objectives would be advantageous.
