Senior Manager - District Integration (Rail)
We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager – District Integration (Rail) to lead the integration of major rail, transport and place-making initiatives across a complex district or programme. This role will be responsible for ensuring that rail infrastructure, station environments, surrounding development, public realm, utilities, access arrangements and wider transport interfaces are planned and delivered as one coordinated system. You will provide strategic leadership across multiple stakeholders, helping to align technical requirements, programme priorities, commercial considerations and long-term operational outcomes.
Key responsibilities will include establishing and managing integration strategies, governance frameworks, interface plans and decision-making processes throughout the project lifecycle. You will coordinate design development and delivery activities across rail systems, civil works, stations, property, highways, utilities and public-realm packages, identifying risks, dependencies and opportunities for improvement. The role will involve leading multidisciplinary teams, challenging assumptions, resolving complex interfaces and ensuring that changes are assessed for their impact on safety, cost, programme, constructability, maintainability and passenger experience. You will also prepare clear reports and recommendations for senior leadership, facilitate workshops and assurance reviews, and support the resolution of issues between delivery partners, contractors, authorities and operational stakeholders.
Applicants should have substantial experience in rail or major infrastructure integration, ideally gained on complex, multidisciplinary programmes involving stations, transport interchanges or urban development. A strong understanding of railway engineering, systems integration, operational readiness, asset interfaces and relevant safety and assurance processes is essential. You will need excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills, with the confidence to influence senior decision-makers and work effectively in a matrix environment. Experience managing teams, consultants and delivery partners, together with sound knowledge of programme controls, risk management and change governance, is highly desirable. A relevant degree or professional qualification in engineering, transport, construction, project management or a related discipline is expected.
