Sr Project Contract Manager

We are seeking an experienced Sr Project Contract Manager to lead the commercial and contractual management of complex projects from tendering through to completion. This role will provide strategic advice to project leadership, ensure contractual obligations are understood and fulfilled, and protect the organisation’s commercial interests while maintaining strong, professional relationships with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and delivery partners.

Key responsibilities will include reviewing and negotiating contracts, amendments, purchase orders, subcontracts and other commercial agreements; identifying contractual risks and opportunities; and developing effective mitigation and management strategies. You will oversee contract compliance, notices, variations, extensions of time, claims, payment matters, warranties, insurance requirements and dispute resolution. The role will also maintain accurate records, prepare commercial reports and forecasts, monitor project performance against contractual commitments, and support the timely resolution of issues. You will work closely with project managers, finance, procurement, legal and operational teams, providing clear guidance on contractual interpretation and commercial decision-making. Where required, you will lead negotiations with external stakeholders and contribute to governance reviews, audits and continuous improvement initiatives.

The successful candidate will have substantial experience in contract and commercial management within a project-based environment, ideally across construction, engineering, infrastructure, energy, technology or a similarly complex sector. A strong understanding of contract principles, change control, claims management, procurement processes and project risk is essential. You will be confident interpreting detailed contractual documentation, producing high-quality written reports and influencing stakeholders at all levels. Excellent negotiation, communication, organisation and problem-solving skills are required, along with the ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure. A relevant qualification in quantity surveying, commercial management, law, business or a related discipline is desirable, as is membership of a recognised professional body. The role may involve travel to project or client locations and requires a proactive, commercially focused approach.
