Technical Safety Specialist

We are seeking a Technical Safety Specialist to support the delivery of safe, compliant and reliable operations across complex technical, engineering or industrial environments. This role will provide specialist advice on technical safety, risk management and regulatory compliance, helping to ensure that hazards are identified, assessed and controlled throughout the asset lifecycle.

Key responsibilities will include leading or contributing to hazard identification and risk assessment activities, including HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, bow-tie analysis and safety requirement reviews. You will develop and maintain safety cases, risk registers, safety management documentation and performance standards, while supporting the implementation and verification of safety-critical controls. The role will also involve reviewing engineering designs, operating procedures, modifications and projects to confirm that technical safety requirements are understood and effectively applied. You will provide guidance during incident investigations, audits, inspections and assurance activities, tracking actions through to completion and promoting continuous improvement in safety performance.

The successful candidate will have relevant experience in technical safety, process safety, functional safety, systems safety or a closely related discipline, ideally within a regulated, high-hazard or asset-intensive industry. A degree or equivalent qualification in engineering, science, health and safety or a related subject is preferred, along with a sound understanding of applicable legislation, industry standards and risk management methodologies. Strong analytical, communication and influencing skills are essential, as is the ability to work collaboratively with engineering, operations, maintenance and project teams. Professional membership or recognised certification in a relevant safety discipline would be advantageous.
