Solar Safety Coordinator
Solar Safety Coordinator
We are seeking an experienced Solar Safety Coordinator to support the safe delivery of renewable energy projects from planning and construction through to commissioning and maintenance. This role will help ensure that all site activities comply with relevant health and safety legislation, industry standards, environmental requirements and internal procedures.
Working closely with project managers, site supervisors, contractors and operational teams, you will provide practical safety guidance across solar installation sites. You will promote a positive safety culture, identify potential hazards and help teams maintain consistently high standards in fast-moving project environments.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate and monitor health, safety and environmental arrangements across solar project sites.
- Carry out regular site inspections, safety audits and risk assessments, recording findings and tracking corrective actions.
- Review method statements, risk assessments, permits and construction documentation before work begins.
- Provide advice on working at height, electrical safety, lifting operations, temporary works, site traffic and personal protective equipment.
- Support incident, near-miss and occupational health investigations, ensuring appropriate reports and follow-up actions are completed.
- Deliver or coordinate site inductions, toolbox talks and safety briefings for employees, visitors and contractors.
- Monitor contractor performance and verify that workers hold the necessary qualifications, training and competency records.
- Maintain accurate safety documentation, inspection records and compliance reports for project teams and senior stakeholders.
About you
You will have proven experience in a health and safety role, ideally within solar energy, construction, engineering, utilities or another high-risk operational environment. A recognised health and safety qualification, such as NEBOSH or IOSH, is desirable, alongside a sound understanding of UK legislation and construction site controls.
You should be confident communicating with people at all levels, able to challenge unsafe practices professionally and comfortable working independently across multiple sites. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and a practical, solutions-focused approach are essential. A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project locations may be required.
What is offered
This opportunity offers the chance to contribute to the safe growth of the renewable energy sector, with ongoing professional development and involvement in varied, meaningful projects.
