We are seeking a Field Biologist to support ecological surveys, environmental monitoring, and biodiversity assessment across a range of field locations. The role will involve planning and carrying out fieldwork, recording species and habitat data, and contributing to studies that inform conservation, land management, and environmental compliance. You will work in varied outdoor conditions and may be required to travel regularly, sometimes staying away from home.

Key responsibilities include conducting flora and fauna surveys; identifying, measuring, and documenting species and habitats; setting up and maintaining monitoring equipment; collecting samples in accordance with approved procedures; and ensuring all field records are accurate, complete, and submitted on time. You will analyse and organise survey results, assist with technical reports, maps, and databases, and communicate findings clearly to colleagues, clients, regulators, and other stakeholders. The role may also involve supporting mitigation measures, habitat restoration activities, protected-species monitoring, and compliance inspections. All work must be carried out in line with relevant legislation, risk assessments, biosecurity procedures, and health and safety requirements.

Applicants should have a degree or equivalent qualification in biology, ecology, environmental science, or a related discipline, together with practical experience in ecological fieldwork. Strong species identification skills and familiarity with standard survey methods are desirable. You should be comfortable working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, with excellent observation, organisation, and written communication skills. A full driving licence, the ability to work flexible hours during seasonal survey periods, and willingness to work in challenging weather and terrain are typically required. Relevant survey licences, first-aid training, and experience with GIS, data collection software, or statistical packages would be advantageous.
