Water Foreman
We are seeking an experienced Water Foreman to lead and coordinate operational teams delivering water infrastructure, maintenance and repair projects. The role will involve supervising daily site activities, allocating labour and resources, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards. You will oversee activities such as mains installation, service connections, leakage repairs, hydrant and valve maintenance, reinstatement works, planned maintenance and emergency response. The successful candidate will act as a key point of contact for site teams, customers, subcontractors and project management, providing clear updates on progress, risks and any issues requiring attention.
Responsibilities will include interpreting drawings, specifications and work instructions; coordinating plant, materials and equipment; monitoring productivity and workmanship; and ensuring projects remain on programme and within budget. You will complete site records, timesheets, permits, inspections and risk assessments, while maintaining accurate documentation and reporting incidents, defects or delays promptly. The role also requires active leadership on health, safety and environmental standards, including toolbox talks, safe systems of work, traffic management and compliance with relevant water industry regulations. You will support investigations into service interruptions, assist with emergency call-outs when required, and help develop less experienced team members through guidance and on-the-job coaching.
Applicants should have proven experience supervising teams within the water, utilities, civil engineering or construction sectors, together with a strong understanding of water networks and associated excavation and reinstatement activities. Relevant technical qualifications, a valid site safety or supervisor competency card, and training in street works, confined spaces, excavation safety or first aid would be advantageous. A full driving licence is required, and flexibility to work outside normal hours, participate in standby rotas or respond to urgent incidents may be necessary. You should be organised, practical and confident communicating with a range of stakeholders, with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure and maintain a consistent focus on safety, quality and customer service.
