We are seeking an experienced Superintendent II to lead field operations on construction projects in the Gainesville, Florida area. This role is responsible for coordinating daily site activities, maintaining a safe and productive work environment, and ensuring projects are completed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, schedules, and quality standards. The successful candidate will serve as a key point of contact for subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, project managers, and other stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include planning and supervising site logistics, sequencing work, coordinating subcontractor activities, reviewing drawings and specifications, monitoring progress, and identifying potential delays or construction issues. You will conduct regular site meetings and inspections, verify that work is performed correctly, track materials and equipment, maintain accurate daily reports, and support schedule and cost control efforts. The Superintendent II will also enforce safety policies, participate in incident prevention activities, address deficiencies, and ensure compliance with applicable building codes, regulations, and project requirements. Strong communication and documentation skills are essential, as is the ability to resolve field issues promptly and professionally.
Applicants should have substantial experience supervising commercial, industrial, institutional, or similarly complex construction projects, with a demonstrated record of delivering work safely, on schedule, and to a high standard. A strong understanding of construction methods, scheduling, quality control, site safety, and subcontractor management is required. The ability to read and interpret plans, use construction management and reporting tools, manage changing priorities, and lead teams in a fast-paced environment is essential. OSHA training or equivalent safety credentials are preferred, and additional industry certifications may be advantageous. This position requires regular presence on active jobsites, effective collaboration with diverse teams, and a commitment to professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement.
