Director - Trenchless (Water / Wastewater)

The Director of Trenchless Construction Operations will oversee a division specializing in underground utility and infrastructure installation, ensuring operational excellence, client satisfaction, and business growth. The ideal candidate will balance strategic oversight with hands-on leadership, driving both day-to-day execution and long-term vision for the group.

Position will manage all aspects of the trenchless construction division, including financial performance, project execution, estimating, equipment planning, workforce development, and client relationships. This individual will act as both a business partner to senior leadership and a mentor to operational teams, ensuring safe, efficient, and profitable outcomes.



Core Responsibilities

Lead divisional operations, including project planning, field execution, and client relations.
Partner with senior leadership to establish strategic goals and ensure alignment with company objectives.
Oversee estimating and bid preparation processes, ensuring competitive and accurate proposals.
Monitor divisional budgets, analyze performance metrics, and prepare financial/operational reports.
Manage allocation of personnel, equipment, and materials to maximize efficiency.
Champion a strong culture of safety, compliance, and quality across all operations.
Build and maintain client relationships, attending pre-bid meetings, project reviews, and key stakeholder discussions.
Recruit, train, and develop employees to strengthen organizational capability and support future growth.
Drive continuous improvement through process enhancements, problem-solving, and innovation.
Provide leadership for select projects when required, ensuring successful execution from start to finish.
Foster collaboration and effective communication between field staff, office personnel, and executive management.


Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years' leadership experience within trenchless, underground utility, or heavy civil construction.
Strong understanding of trenchless construction methods, equipment utilization, and field operations.
Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, lead teams, and achieve business growth.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage clients, vendors, and internal teams.
Proven track record of building strong, high-performing teams.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite familiarity with project management and estimating software a plus.
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
