Construction Project Manager - Healthcare Market
Construction Project Manager – Healthcare Market
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Construction Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of complex healthcare construction and refurbishment projects. You will manage projects from inception through to completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards.
Working closely with clients, design teams, contractors, healthcare professionals and other stakeholders, you will provide clear leadership throughout each project lifecycle. The role requires a strong understanding of the challenges associated with working in live healthcare environments, including maintaining safe access, minimising disruption and ensuring compliance with relevant statutory and clinical requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the planning, procurement and delivery of healthcare construction projects from concept to handover.
- Develop and maintain project programmes, budgets, risk registers and reporting processes.
- Coordinate design development, consultant appointments, contractor performance and supply chain activities.
- Monitor progress, quality, costs and compliance, taking corrective action where required.
- Manage client relationships and communicate effectively with senior stakeholders at all stages.
- Oversee health and safety, environmental standards and construction compliance across all project activities.
- Support contract administration, change control, valuations, forecasting and commercial negotiations.
- Lead project meetings, prepare progress reports and ensure accurate project documentation.
- Manage commissioning, snagging, practical completion and handover to operational teams.
About you
You will be an accomplished construction professional with demonstrable experience managing major projects, ideally within healthcare, hospitals, medical facilities or similarly regulated environments. A relevant degree or professional qualification in construction, project management, surveying or an associated discipline is desirable, alongside recognised project management or construction accreditation.
You should have strong knowledge of construction methods, procurement routes, contract management and health and safety legislation. Excellent organisational, financial and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to build effective relationships and influence decisions at all levels.
This role may involve travel between project locations and occasional work within live clinical settings. In return, it offers the opportunity to deliver high-profile projects that make a meaningful contribution to patient care and the wider healthcare environment.
