Project Manager - Healthcare Construction
Project Manager – Healthcare Construction
An experienced Project Manager is required to lead the successful delivery of healthcare construction projects from initial planning through to completion. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially aware and organised professional who understands the operational, regulatory and quality requirements of working in live healthcare environments.
You will take responsibility for managing project programmes, budgets, resources and stakeholders, ensuring that works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required standards. Projects may include new-build facilities, refurbishments, extensions and complex infrastructure upgrades within hospitals, clinics and other healthcare settings.
Key responsibilities
- Lead projects from feasibility, design and procurement through to construction, commissioning and handover.
- Develop and maintain detailed programmes, budgets, risk registers and project documentation.
- Coordinate consultants, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Monitor progress, quality, costs and compliance, taking prompt action where risks or delays arise.
- Ensure construction activities comply with health and safety legislation, building regulations and relevant healthcare standards.
- Manage communication with clinical, estates and operational teams, minimising disruption to ongoing services.
- Chair project meetings, prepare progress reports and provide clear updates to senior stakeholders.
- Support procurement, tender evaluation, contract administration and the resolution of commercial issues.
- Oversee testing, commissioning, defects management and the completion of accurate handover information.
About you
You will have proven experience managing construction projects, ideally within healthcare, public sector, commercial or similarly regulated environments. A relevant qualification in construction, project management, engineering or a related discipline is desirable, together with experience of managing multidisciplinary teams and external delivery partners.
Strong knowledge of construction processes, contracts, cost control, risk management and health and safety is essential. You will be confident working in occupied buildings, balancing competing priorities and making informed decisions under pressure. Excellent communication, negotiation and organisational skills are required, along with a collaborative approach and a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes.
What is offered
The role offers the opportunity to deliver meaningful projects that improve healthcare environments and support the provision of essential services. A competitive salary and benefits package will be provided, alongside professional development and the chance to work on a varied portfolio of challenging construction projects.
