Project Manager – Healthcare Construction

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of healthcare construction projects from inception through to completion. This role will suit a confident construction professional with a strong understanding of live healthcare environments, complex stakeholder requirements and the importance of maintaining safe, compliant and high-quality facilities.

You will take responsibility for managing projects across refurbishment, redevelopment and new-build programmes, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget and to the required standards. Working closely with clinical, estates, design and contractor teams, you will coordinate activity while minimising disruption to patients, staff and day-to-day services.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage projects through the full lifecycle, including feasibility, design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover.
  • Develop and maintain project programmes, budgets, risk registers and reporting documentation.
  • Coordinate architects, consultants, contractors, specialist subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor construction progress, quality, costs, health and safety, and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Lead project meetings, provide clear progress updates and manage actions through to completion.
  • Identify and resolve risks, issues, variations and contractual matters in a timely manner.
  • Ensure works are planned and delivered with appropriate infection control, safeguarding and operational continuity measures.
  • Support commissioning, practical completion, snagging, documentation and post-project reviews.

About you

You will have proven experience managing construction or capital works projects, ideally within a healthcare, public sector or similarly regulated environment. A relevant qualification in construction, project management, surveying or engineering is desirable, together with experience of contract administration and working with multiple stakeholders.

Strong commercial awareness, excellent communication skills and a structured approach to problem-solving are essential. You will be comfortable working independently, making informed decisions and maintaining high standards in a demanding operational setting. Knowledge of current health and safety, building regulations, CDM requirements and healthcare construction guidance would be advantageous.

What is offered
