Project Manager – Healthcare Construction
An experienced Project Manager is required to lead the delivery of complex healthcare construction and refurbishment projects from inception through to completion. This role will suit a confident construction professional with a strong understanding of live healthcare environments, stakeholder management and the delivery of high-quality projects within demanding operational settings.
You will take responsibility for planning, coordinating and controlling projects across all stages, ensuring that programme, cost, quality, health and safety and compliance requirements are achieved. Working closely with clinical, estates, design and construction teams, you will ensure that project objectives are clearly defined and successfully delivered with minimal disruption to patients, staff and day-to-day services.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of healthcare construction, refurbishment and improvement projects from feasibility and design through to handover.
- Develop and manage project programmes, budgets, risk registers and procurement strategies.
- Coordinate consultants, contractors, specialist suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Monitor progress, quality, costs and contractual performance, taking corrective action where required.
- Manage change control, project documentation, reporting and governance processes.
- Ensure compliance with relevant building regulations, healthcare standards, CDM requirements and health and safety legislation.
- Support commissioning, completion, defects management and effective handover of completed works.
About you
You will have demonstrable experience managing construction or capital projects, ideally within a healthcare, public-sector or similarly regulated environment. A relevant qualification in construction, project management, engineering or a related discipline is desirable, alongside experience of working with multidisciplinary teams and external delivery partners.
You should be commercially aware, highly organised and able to manage competing priorities with a calm, practical approach. Excellent communication and negotiation skills are essential, as is the ability to produce clear reports and provide accurate updates to senior stakeholders. Experience using recognised project management methodologies and contract forms will be advantageous.
This is an opportunity to play a key role in delivering essential healthcare facilities and improvements that support safe, efficient and patient-focused services.
